這首詩歌的作者是羅伯遜(George Wade Robinson1838-1877)。他是主後1838年出生在愛爾蘭。羅伯遜既是傳道人，又是舉世聞名的詩人。他曾在都伯林 (Dublin) 和倫敦 (London) 牧會，然後在布賴頓 (Brighton) 的海岸社區。《我是屬他，他屬我》(I am His ,and He is Mine)是一首美妙的得救證實與快樂的詩歌，一百多年來感動了千千万万人的心。有些詩輯將這首詩歌取名為《永遠的愛已愛我》(Loved With Everlasting Love)。在布來頓時，邁爾常隨父母去听羅伯遜講道。羅伯遜的信息和他的詩歌互相呼應，在邁爾幼年的心靈中引起了震蕩。有人說是這首詩使邁爾的心溶化，引領他歸向了基督，得著重生。
